Week of 8/26

Due to the upcoming heat wave (and the inevitability of practice being canceled due to heat), the team voted to move practices to the morning this week.  Teachers (me) have to go back to work at 8:30/9:00 AM this week so practice will be a little earlier than usual.  The kids have already done a fantastic job communicating conflicts due to the practice change.  Please continue to let us know ahead of time if you need to sneak out early.  We will also be breaking in our XC spikes this week (SINCE WE START COMPETING NEXT WEEK!!).  If you have not purchased spikes yet, Fleet Feet, Lucky Road, and Road Runner typically have a good selection.

  • Monday @ GAHS 7:00-9:00 AM
  • Tuesday @ GAHS 7:00-9:00 AM
  • Wednesday @ GAHS 7:00-9:00 AM à bring spikes to practice (put metal implements in BEFORE practice)
    • Team Cook-Out: Rachel Hager’s from 7:00-8:30 PM
  • Thursday @ Crump Park 7:00-9:00 AM

Important Information for XC

Hey everyone!!!

Mandatory paperwork to participate:

What to bring to practice:

  • Wear athletic clothes and running shoes
  • Running watch
  • Water bottle (recommend you write your name on it)
  • Towel
  • Extra t-shirt

Other important things:

  • There will be a school-wide fall sports parent-athlete meeting on Wednesday, August 8 @ 6:00 in the auditorium.  We will follow up with a brief XC break out session after to go over our team contract, meet our new assistant coach, and go over our expectations for the year.  This is mandatory for both parents and athletes – please let us know if you are unable to attend.
  • TOMORROW is the last day to order a jersey if you would like to own one.  Jerseys are provided by the school if you do not wish to purchase one.  The team spiritwear is also available at this time so that you can receive it before the season starts.  If you do not wish to buy anything at this time, we will open it again in August (jerseys will no longer be available).  The teal shirt is the only mandatory item!
